Sara Domingos is a Portuguese (1973) and Lisbon based visual artist. Graduated in Fine Arts at Lisbon University in the specialty of Communication Design, she has been working independently in her studio in the historic center of Lisbon. In her interdisciplinary practice, Sara Domingos blurs the lines between graphic, textile, and fine arts, with a strong focus on intercultural dialogue. She was awarded the Barzakh – Ibn 'Arabi 2020/21 of The Muhyiddin Ibn 'Arabi Society Latina (Murcia) for her artistic trajectory with an expressive inspiration in Arabic and Islamic references. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad and has collaborated with several institutions: Mértola Museum – Cláudio Torres (Islamic Art and Weaving Workshop Sections); Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (Islamic Oriental Collection); Luso-Arab Studies Center of Silves (CELAS); Lisbon Museum – Roman Theatre; Faro Municipal Museum; and Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (ESELx) as an internship cooperation and supervision of students within the degree in Artistic and Cultural Mediation. Her artworks are in private collections worldwide and have been featured in publications such as Jornal de Letras, Al-Irfan Magazine from the Institute for Hispanic-Lusophone Studies of Mohammed V University of Rabat (Morocco), AramcoWorld Magazine, and the Bulletin of ICOM Portugal (International Council of Museums). Among her most recent projects are Embroidering the Evening Dew, developed with migrant women (in partnership with the Portuguese Council for Refugees), and The Acanthus Smile, which explores intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean context (in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Ethnobotany, Polytechnic Institute of Beja).
